VPN speed calculator
Track repeated internet speed results with and without a VPN
Record repeated VPN on/off speed test results, compare medians, and note test conditions. Browser-only; this page does not run a speed test or save entries.
Record repeated results from the same speed test with the VPN disconnected and connected. This browser-only tool compares what you enter; it does not run a test, contact a VPN provider, or save your entries.
Paired test rounds
For each round, run the same test without the VPN and then with it. Keep the measurement direction, device, network, and test server consistent where possible.
Enter at least two complete rounds to see the median results.
How to make a useful comparison
Repeat paired tests close together in time, on the same device and network, using the same test server when possible. Network load and test conditions can vary between runs. Record the measurement direction and any changes in the conditions fields; the tool keeps these entries only in the current page.
A VPN changes the route your traffic takes. WireGuard describes encapsulating IP packets through a tunnel, while Cloudflare explains that distance along a VPN route can affect latency. This calculator cannot identify why your measurements differ, predict another session, or rank VPN services.
Summary: the tool reports the median of the entered no-VPN values, the median of the with-VPN values, and the median paired percentage change. For each round, percentage change = (with-VPN speed − without-VPN speed) ÷ without-VPN speed × 100. Negative means that round's with-VPN value was lower. Percentage change is undefined for a zero baseline, so those rounds are omitted from the percentage median. These summaries describe only the numbers and conditions you record.

How it works
Enter at least two paired download or upload results in Mbps, note your test conditions, and summarize the medians. Entries stay in the current browser page; the tool does not run tests or determine why results differ.
Good to know
Does this page test my VPN speed or save my results?
No. It only calculates from values you enter. It does not run a test, contact a test service or VPN provider, or save entries; clearing or leaving the page removes them.
Why compare repeated results with a median?
Repeated paired measurements can differ when network and test conditions vary. The median summarizes the values you entered without claiming to identify the cause or predict another session.
What does a negative percentage mean, and how are zero values handled?
A negative paired percentage means that round's with-VPN speed was lower. Percentage change is undefined when the without-VPN result is zero; that round still contributes to the Mbps medians but is omitted from the percentage median.
